Role in the project and main tasks

Since more than 10 years, ASTRIUM is involved in a variety of projects within the frame of the European Satellite Navigation System “Galileo” and related technologies & services. ASTRIUM today employs more than 50 people in the Ottobrunn site in Germany that are constantly working on Positioning Technologies and related Applications. The set of activities covers the whole value chain, ranging from the definition of Global Navigation Satellite Systems to the design & construction of Signals & Satellites, as well as the implementation of advanced positioning algorithms on the receiver side. By transferring the expertise of Global Navigation Satellite Systems to local augmentation technologies with technologies as Pseudolites" or an innovative indoor navigation solution, ASTRIUM successfully closes dedicated gaps of global navigation satellite systems, namely accuracy, reliability and availability issues, and enables new, advanced positioning applications.

Relevant previous experience

ASTRIUM’s work focus is on the landing sensor that will enable the highly accurate positioning determination between two moving objects based on an innovative radio frequency concept.
